Authentic villages

Gigondas, Séguret, Beaumes-de-Venise...

The hilly countryside of the Haut Vaucluse is dotted with little gems of Medieval architecture like Beaumes-de-Venise, Sablet, Séguret and Gigondas.

Gigondas, nestled at the foot of the Dentelles de Montmirail mountains in the heart of the ancient principality of Orange, was originally known as "Jucunditas", a Latin word meaning joy and gladness. A name which fits this enchanting place to a T. Gigondas is a small village with a big reputation, thanks to its world-renowned wines (appellation d'origine granted in 1971).

The village spreads out below the church, which overlooks the Gigondas vineyards. From the court in front of the church, you will enjoy a unique view of the region, stretching as far as the Cévennes. Next to the church, you can take a staircase decorated with contemporary sculptures by French and international artists to visit the Hospices.
After a full day in the Provence sunshine, take a break at the hotel on the upper slopes of Gigondas.
